Joycelyn Liburd Primary School holds 26th annual Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- The Joycelyn Liburd Primary School held its 26th annual Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony under the esteemed patronage of Mr. and Mrs. Chesley Manners on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

The ceremony at the St. George’s Anglican Church was held under the theme, ‘Maintain a passion for learning and rise to overcome the challenges for the future’. Thirty- four graduates proudly made the walk down the aisle.

The ceremony began with the invocation by Rev. Canon Dr. Alson B H Percival. This was followed by the National Anthem.

Principal of the school, Ms. Barbara Hendrickson in her remarks expressed how extremely proud she was of the 2013 graduating class.

Past student of the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School, Mr. Quincy Prentice was the featured speaker for the event. Mr. Prentice in his uplifting words of encouragement encouraged the graduates to be motivated and to always strive to achieve their goals. Prentice reminded the students that life is full of challenges but despite these challenges one should never give up. Prentice told the students that everyday should be a learning experience and he admonished them all too always aim high.

Education Officer, Ms. Andrea Bussue also gave brief remarks.

Thalia Dore giving her Valedictory Speech

Thalia Dore did an excellent job delivering the valedictory speech. This was followed by the presentation of the certificates which generated a lot of excitement.

The master of the ceremony was Mr. Eric Evelyn and the vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Cynthia Broadbelt.

The ceremony came to a close with the recessional of the lighting of the candles.
