The Jamaica Scorpions find themselves in a precarious position against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes on the final day of their West Indies Championship match at Sabina Park, with all-rounder Justin Greaves leading the Hurricanes’ charge towards victory with a resilient unbeaten half-century.
As play resumes on the final day, the Hurricanes are poised for victory at 145 for three, needing just 42 more runs with Greaves solidly anchored at 62 not out and wicketkeeper Jahmar Hamilton providing support at nine not out.
Earlier, the Jamaica Scorpions struggled to build a substantial total, adding 137 runs to their overnight score of 59 for four. Opener Kirk McKenzie managed 33 runs before falling leg-before wicket to Rahkeem Cornwall, setting the stage for a challenging innings. Despite contributions from Peat Salmon (22) and Derval Green (19), the Scorpions found themselves at 134 for eight. However, a resilient 58-run partnership between Abhijai Mansingh and Ramaal Lewis revived the innings, with Mansingh scoring his second half-century of the season before being dismissed for 52.

With a modest total of 196 runs on the board, the Scorpions faced an uphill battle as the Hurricanes began their chase. While opener Kieran Powell fell for a duck and Keacy Carty was bowled for four, Greaves and Mikyle Louis steadied the innings with a crucial 105-run partnership for the third wicket. Louis contributed 57 runs before his dismissal, but Greaves and Hamilton ensured the Hurricanes remained in control heading into the final day.
In other matches, the Combined Campuses & Colleges Marooners face a challenging chase of 314 more runs to win against Cricket West Indies Academy, while the Guyana Harpy Eagles secured a commanding 255-run victory over the Windward Islands Volcanoes.
