(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Yesterday, Thursday, February 13, 2014 was the funeral service of Mrs. Sheryl Claxton of Brown Hill Village. Her sudden death was a shocking blow to her family and the entire Nevisian community. As expected the gathering of family members, friends and well wishers was large, befitting this gentle and lovely lady.
However, when the family returned home after laying their loved one to rest, they received another severe blow when they realized that their residence was burglarized and totally ransacked during the time of the funeral.
According to information received, the intruder(s) entered the home from the rear of the house and made his way throughout the entire house. All the bedrooms were ransacked and a number of valuable items were missing.
The jewelry of the late Mrs. Claxton and her children, money, a Samsung tablet, iPods and a computer were among other things reported stolen from the home.
This left the family of the late Mrs. Claxton feeling heartbroken and violated. They expressed their disbelief that someone could be so heartless to do such a thing at such a sad and heart wrenching time for the family.
Mrs. Sheryl Claxton was a Nevisian icon. If she did not captivate you with her warmth, she sure did with her breakfast on Sunday mornings and her fried chicken on Friday and Saturday nights, although she allowed her husband ‘Sandy’ to take all of the credit. So although one usually heard of the famous ‘Sandy’s Fried Chicken’, Mrs. Claxton is said to have been the woman behind the chicken.
Investigation into this matter continues.
