The Independence 10 K and 3 K run/walk is set for later today, Friday 14th September.
The event commences in the heart of Charlestown, next to the DR Walwyn Plaza, at 4pm.
The runners will go as far as Cotton Ground and return, while the walkers will, go as far as the Four Seasons Resort and return.
There will be cash prizes, trophies and medals up for grabs for the top placers.
The passage of Tropical Storm Isaac, initially cast a shadow of doubt over the hosting of the event but thankfully, the storm passed by without any major alarms.
