The St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) mourns the loss of a true stalwart, Mr. Stanley Franks Jr., who dedicated his life to the beautiful game. Franks’ illustrious journey in football spanned over six decades, encompassing roles as player, administrator, and match official.
From his humble beginnings as a goalkeeper for the cup-winning Boys Brigade team in the second division from 1952 to 1956 to his contributions as a player for Garden Hotspurs, Blackpool, and Santos, Franks embodied the spirit of the sport. In 1968, he transitioned seamlessly into management, leading the St. Kitts team in the LIFA tournament.
Franks’ commitment extended to administrative roles within the Football Association, where he served as President from 1979. His influence resonated through various capacities, including Secretary, Treasurer, and continual presence on the management committee until 1994. Additionally, he pioneered the St. Kitts Referees Association, officiating local and regional matches from 1970 to 1985.
His legacy expanded beyond national borders, as he played an instrumental role in St. Kitts and Nevis’ inaugural membership in the CFU in 1978. His service to football reached international heights, encompassing roles in CONCACAF and CFU commissions.
