The forecast from the University of Arizona, on April 13th, indicated a possibility of 19 named storms, 10 hurricanes and 5 major hurricanes.

‘When it rains, it pours,’ Dyer said.

He is urging the residents of Nevis to start their preparations for the season early, despite the current focus on the corona pandemic.

Removing used articles of debris from premises; trimming trees; securing roofs and other aspects of property; purchasing essential non-perishable items and securing valuables, are among some of the bits of advice he is offering, in planning for the busy season.

The list of the named storms for 2020 is as follows: Arthur; Bertha; Cristobal; Dolly; Edouard; Fay; Gonzalo; Hanna; Isaias; Josephine; Kyle; Laura; Marco; Nana; Omar; Paulette; Rene; Sally; Teddy; Vicky and Wilfred.
