The third annual Press conference hosted by the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club to ring in the signature event on the Association’s calendar, is now set for Monday 9th September.
The announcement was made on Tuesday 27th August by the President of the prestigious body, Allister Thompson.
He indicated that the press conference will be held at the LLEWELLYN NEWTON DISASTER PREPAREDNESS OFFICE, commencing at 10 am.
He noted that the Horse racing club is celebrating its 45th year and thus will be celebrating in a big way with a week of activities.
The full week of activities will be one of the revelations to be made at the press conference, although the main focus will be on the major event of the year, the DAN BARTLETTE MEOMORIAL STAKES slated for Monday 16th September, better known as HEROES’ DAY.
The session will be chaired by President Thompson himself and will also feature other members of the executive; sponsors of the event and horse owners along with one or two of the jockeys.
Details about the major races and match ups for the event will also be revealed with the most anticipated race of the day being the race for the massive Dan Bartlette memorial cup which will be contested for by the top six horses on Nevis.
In the first year it was won by DOMINQUERO; in the second year it was won by WILD CANDY and in 2012 it was won by current champion, MR. BIG PEPE.. Thompson indicated that there are plans afoot to retire the rotating trophy to the Nevis Sports Museum, after its fifth year.
Thompson is cordially extending an invitation to representatives of all media houses within the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis to be present at the upcoming press conference. All persons are expected to be seated at 9.45 am in order to accommodate a prompt 10 am start.
