Horse Racing : Nevis Equestrian Center Keeps Traditional Sports Alive

On Sunday, December 15th, Nevis hosted a significant horse racing event at the Nevis Equestrian Center, held at Cades Bay. The event attracted a sizable and enthusiastic crowd.

There were four races, each featuring two horses. The races began out of sight, up the beach, and once the horses rounded the bend, the crowd erupted into excitement. One notable race had a young female jockey who crossed the finish line in first place.

The event also boasted an array of music, food, and drinks. Additionally, some animals were on display, and horse rides were offered for those interested. There was even a bouncing castle for the children.

Erika Guilbert-Archibald, the manager of the equestrian center, expressed her commitment to preserving this age-old sport and announced plans for another similar event during Culturama 2025. She took the opportunity to thank her generous sponsors: Nevis Island Administration, Peri Dillon, The Hermitage Hotel, The Golden Rock Hotel, Miriam Knorr, Mohan Tire Services, Recklife Movements, Hinds Electrical Services, Jason J. Liburd, GZ Shop & Ship, Nevis Peak Brewery, Phenomenal Wellness, and Lacho.
