President of the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club Alllister Thompson, on Sunday 11th August, was forced to send urgent messages to potential patrons of the much-publicized post Culturama Horse race meet that it was it was off for that day.
Normally the Horse race organizers would welcome showers of rain, as it assists in the control of the dust on the track.
However, on Sunday it was not just ‘showers of blessing’ but instead it rained the proverbial ‘cats and dogs.’
According to Thompson, this caused the track to be flooded and because of the potential dangers to the horses and the jockeys, his Association was forced to postpone the big event.
Thompson however indicated that the meet has now been pushed back to Sunday 18th August and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
