Heavyweight Boxing Legend George Foreman Dies Aged 76

Boxing heavyweight legend George Foreman has passed away at the age of 76. Known as “Big George” in the ring, the American boxer had one of the sport’s most remarkable and enduring careers. He won an Olympic gold medal in 1968 and secured the world heavyweight title twice, with a 21-year gap between his championships, making him the oldest champion in history at the age of 45.

Foreman lost his first title to Muhammad Ali in the famous “Rumble in the Jungle” fight in 1974. However, he finished his career with an astonishing record of 76 wins, including 68 knockouts—nearly double the number of knockouts achieved by Ali.

He retired in 1997, but not before he licensed his name for a best-selling grill, a decision that ultimately earned him a fortune that surpassed his boxing earnings.
