Gingerland-Nevis-It was a delayed celebration, but as she said ‘better late than never.’
Hon. Eric Evelyn, Minister of Social Development, led a delegation to the home of Hannah Allen of Rawlins Village, to salute her on attaining the significant milestone of 80 years.
The birthday was sometime prior to the day of the visit-Wednesday 13th February, but the celebrant was off island at the time.
Minster Evelyn saluted her on her many contributions to the community and noted that her children and grandchildren are all making important contributions to the society.
He then presented her with a plaque and fruit basket, complements of his Ministry and the City Drug Store.
Hannah for her part, had a lengthy address which was eventually curtailed, as she thanked God; her children and all those who assisted her throughout her lifetime.
The usual prayer; songs of thanksgiving and birthday song, were rendered.
The ceremony was coordinated by Seniors’ Coordinator Miss Trudy Prentice.
