West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for May 2024, edging Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi and Ireland’s Lorcan Tucker. Motie is the second West Indian to take the title this year after Shamar Joseph won the January award.
“It means a lot to me and I am very happy to win this award. It’s very encouraging, I have put in a lot of work during this season and I am happy that I am seeing the rewards now.”
Motie said.
The left-arm spinner starred in the West Indies’ 3-0 Series romp over South Africa, bagging 8 wickets at an average of 8.50 and an economy a little above 6.
In the T20 World Cup Motie has played a pivotal role bagging 5 wickets at an average of 11 with an economy of 6.11.
