It was the day when the Green Sparrows at the St. Thomas’ Primary School, dominated the school’s annual sports meet, to take honours as champions for the umpteenth time.
It was Wednesday 1st March and the action was held at the school’s playground, under the patronage of former student and star athlete, Miles Walters.
After the impressive march past, the students competed in the 400 meters; 800; 200; 80; 100; 4X100 and 4X400 meters.
The crowd increased gradually, especially after the end of the work day and the youthful athletes thrilled and entertained the spectators with their grand display of speed and endurance.
A number of records were also broken on the day and the school looks in good shape, as the athletes prepare for the grand interprimary event, slated for April 5th.
Green Sparrows, as was the case last year, were runaway winners.
The point standings were not available at the end of the meet but the placement of the competing houses was as follows:
Green Sparrows-champions
Blue Hawks-second
Orange Eagles-third
