The Jocelyn Liburd Primary school held its annual sports meet on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Gingerland Recreation Grounds aka BALL PASTURE.
The meet was held under the distinguished patronage of former student and athlete par excellence, Marco Simmonds.
The crowd built up steadily during the course of the day, especially after the four o’ clock hour.
The athletes excited the spectators as they competed fiercely in the 400; 800; 200; 1200; 60 and 100 meters races.
The day climaxed with the exciting 4×100 meters and 4×400 meters events.
The final race of the day, the 4×400 meters open for boys, was a fitting climax to the day’s meet. First off, Headmistress Barbara Hendrickson had the distinction of firing the starting gun and then there was a come from behind run by one athlete to take gold.
When the dust settled, the final scores were:
Green house-champions—465 points
Blue house –second—368 points
Red house –third-331 points
