Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNIS): The General Post Office is preparing to unveil a series of commemorative stamp designs to observe St. Kitts and Nevis’ 40th Independence anniversary celebration.
The four designs chosen will feature on stamps of varying denominations. The 10-cent stamp will feature a collage of the Federation’s five National Heroes, while the 30-cent stamp will showcase an image of Independence Square. A $30 stamp will highlight the Berkeley Memorial commonly known as the Circus while the $100 stamp will feature the statue of the First National Hero, the late Right Excellent Sir Robert L. Bradshaw mounted in St. Paul’s.
“Persons who are avid stamp collectors … [can] look forward to putting something like this into their collection,” said Co-chair of the Independence 40 Planning Committee, Dr. Marcus Natta.
The digital design of the stamps is expected to be introduced this month while the actual physical copies will be available in the near future.
