The Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School held its annual sports day on Tuesday 5th March under the distinguished patronage of past athlete, Ms Shana Howell. Her mommy, Vernice ‘Pridee’ Liburd, filled in for her for a brief moment when she was absent from the grounds.
The meet attracted a huge crowd at the popular Flats in Cole Hill and the athletes excited and even entertained to some extent.
There were some intense battles between two of the obvious reps for the upcoming Interprimary event—Alexandra Richards and Schadone Liburd in the senior girls’ events.
Khaleel Richards also dominated in his class and the exuberant Shamaul Delashley turned quite a few heads after delivering a spectacular looking somersault on securing gold in his 100 meters event.
The students featured in the 1200 (new event); 400; 800; 200 and 100 meters races. Additionally, there were the; 4 X100 and the 4 X 400 meters events, along with the fun events such as socks and shoes; sack races and lime and spoon.
As the sun set in the Western sky and the lights were turned on, the final announcements were made:

Red House—199 points
The Victor Ludorum –Khaleel Glasgow with 25 points
