GINGERLAND CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTIING CEREMONY A RARE TREAT

Gingerland –Nevis-Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hanley were the honoured patrons at the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony held at Market Shop on the evening of Thursday 17th December.

In front of a sizeable and enthused crowd, their profiles were eloquently presented by Miss Lorraine Archibald of the Social Services Department. She spoke to their significant contributions in terms of education and community work throughout the years.

Both patrons then graciously accepted a gift basket that was presented to them.

At the top of the program, Devonne and Shevonne Maynard presented a sterling rendition of the national anthem on pan and this was followed by the invocation, delivered by Bishop Stephen Liburd.

Bishop Stephen Liburd also presented the sermonette for the evening which focused on the admonition to put Christ first and foremost, even during the celebrations of the season.

The audience then collectively sang the well-known carol—‘O come all ye Faithful.’

The grandest moment yet, was still in store, as Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hanley, accompanied by Premier Amory, pulled the switch to light up the Christmas tree, to the cheers of the appreciative audience.
