Friends of Pink Lily Wishing you a Healthy, Peaceful & Happy New Year.

As director of Pink Lily’, I take great pleasure in looking forward to another year of opportunities for spreading the Pink Lily messages of cancer awareness, in order to help save more precious lives in St. Kitts & Nevis.

Looking back on 2014, we sadly acknowledge the loss of 11 loved ones to cancer in Nevis. Further statistical reports in St Kitts and Nevis would tell us of a significant number of others who sadly lost their lives to cancer.

Throughout 2014, 6 newly diagnosed people reached out to Pink Lily and going into 2015, there are people in St Kitts and Nevis currently living with cancer; courageously undergoing life saving or life prolonging cancer treatments.

There are families bearing the financial burden of cancer treatment and associated costs. There are cancer survivors, thankful to be alive and still living with different effects from cancer.

There are bereaved families and friends seeing out the Old year without a loved one.

There will be some people; your neighbour, friend, work colleague, family member, customer, student; starting a New Year with uncertainty, unfamiliarity, a loss of direction , loss of sense of purpose, or a broken heart.

And there’s you; with a NEW YEAR of 12 months, waiting to start.

A new dawn of lifestyle decision making and choices; for a healthier and happier year of your life.

I look forward to 2015 being a year of growth and development for Pink Lily as a community serving charitable organisation; for the people of St. Kitts & Nevis to live more aware, informed, healthier, happier and peaceful lives.

A year to strengthen relationships and build new local, regional and international partnerships. A year for appealing for more financial and volunteer help; to open and run a Pink Lily Centre that provides quality full-time cancer awareness, support and care services to the people of St. Kitts & Nevis.

For 2015, the resolution I set for Pink Lily Cancer Care is to promise a year that is full of positive empowerment, the creation of greater self awareness and opportunities for making better health decisions and lifestyle choices.

Providing education and guidance on how to take responsibilities for our own health and well being, through knowing signs and symptoms to be aware of and going for regular screening. Taking more physically activity, better nutrition and weight management, positive mental attitude and spiritual support.

In our comings and goings of daily life, it’s easy to sometimes lose sight of what’s really important to us and what makes us truly happy. It’s easy to take things for granted; loved ones, health, financial security, faith and friendships.

It’s easy to neglect to really look after ourselves; especially if we are not aware of certain signs and symptoms of conditions or illnesses that could negatively affect or impact our health, well being and life.

It’s easy to ignore discomfort or persistent pain when we prioritize other things before our own health and we just don’t have the time. It’s easy to not bother going to the doctor to have regular annual health checkups because it’s expensive or you don’t have the money right now.

It’s easy to avoid going for screening because you don’t like the procedure .

It’s easy to fall into bad habits, that overtime become detrimental to our general health and quality of life.

It’s also easy to make a decision to live a healthier and happy 2015 with Pink Lily by your side.

It’s easy to partner, support or volunteer with Pink Lily and help support more members of your community.

On behalf of Pink Lily Cancer Care Volunteers; We wish you a Healthy & Happy New Year.
