(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Marvin Lewis and Jason Walen members of the Extasy Sound handsomely won the Knock-shore Magnum DJ Sound Clash for the third consecutive time that was held at Sandy Point hardcourt for the annual ‘Black San’ Bang-A-Lang which was held on Saturday, April 4, 2015.
In an interview with Nevispages prior to the clash, owner of Extasy Sound, Marvin ‘Woodis’ Lewis was confident that he would have won the sound clash three times in a row. ‘Woodis’ certainly ‘backed his chat’ when he alongside ‘Selecta Mad N Bad’ demolished their opponents and earned themselves the number one spot.
Extasy Sound defended its title against Black Stone Sound, Chalice Sound and Chronical Leverage. They were scheduled to compete in four (4) rounds: Ole School Dancehall, Reggae Rubber Dub, Soca Round and Tune for Tune.
The sound system played two (2) rounds of Ole School Dancehall and Reggae. In the interest of time, members of the committee decided that the top two sounds with the most points would advance to the finals. At the end of it all, Extasy Sound was the one with the most points along with Chalice Sound. The Soca Round was eliminated.
In the ‘anything goes’ round, the deejays battled tune for tune. Chalice Sound won the coin toss and opted to be first onstage. Both sounds were to compete for the best out of 10 but that was cut short when Extasy Sound took a 6-0 lead and was announced the winners.
At the end of the competition, ‘Extasy Sound’, won the battle and walked away with the title and the winning price of $2000.00 E.C. for the third consecutive year.
The champions earned themselves an extra $500.00 when they defeated DJ Flames who was also the referee for the event in a ‘face-off’ of the best of five (5). Extasy Sound gave Flames a 5-0 lead.
Members of the Extasy Sound are now hoping that they would be given the recognition to be a part of the St. Kitts Music Festival in June 2015.
