Losing finalists in last year’s Primary Schools’ Football competition, St. James’ Primary, went under in their first outing of the 2023 season, as they lost to the Joycelyn Liburd Primary, in match three, on the first day of the tournament, on Wednesday 18th October.
There was constant pressure applied by the JLPS forwards and the St. James goalie, made several great saves.
However, the JLPS boys eventually got two goals into the back of the net and the St. James’ star player, Austin Williams, was heavily marked throughout.
He, however, still managed to squeeze one past the JLPS goalie and a resurgent St. James’ team tried hard to equalize, as time ran out.
By the final whistle, JLPS held on to their slender lead, to win the game 2 goals to 1.
The player of the match was Teondre Elliot, who got a movie pass and a ball, compliments of SOL.
