First Version of Sugar Mas Calendar Released

On August 14th, 2023, The National Carnival Committee released its first version of the National Carnival Calendar for Sugar Mas 52. In a live broadcast of SUGARFIX-the first episode, hosted at ZIZ, SKNNCC’s chairperson, Shannon Hawley and Director Clement Monarch Ogarro gave a comprehensive overview of plans and events for Sugar Mas 52.

For this year, the SKNNCC has compressed the official Carnival Calendar into 19 days of non-stop activity from December 15th, 2023 to January 2nd, 2024 which is expected to secure maximum participation from all stakeholders and enhanced excitement. The ram-packed Calendar caters to a cross-section of stakeholders and offers something for everyone.

The majority of National Carnival core events will return for Sugar Mas 52 such as the Talented Teen and Queen Pageants, Junior and Senior Calypso Competitions, Panorama, Soca Monarch, J’ouvert, Grand Parade and Last Lap.

The Committee has also introduced a new event highlighting and promoting local clothing designers and other creatives, titled “Rock The Runway”. The calendar also includes the return of highly anticipated events hosted by the Department of Creative Economy such as “In the Spirit of Christmas”, “Folklore Galore” and “Midnight Escape Street Festival” as well as several private fetes, cultural events and boat rides.

On September 6th, 2023 the SKNNCC will officially reveal the contestants participating in the Miss St. Kitts and Nevis Queen Pageant during its official Media and Sponsor Launch.

Executive Members of the National Carnival Committee and various Committee Chairs will also provide the Media with updates on various events at that time.

Sugar Mas 52 would be celebrated from December 15, 2023, to January 2, 2024, under the theme “ALL IN WITH YOUR CREW FOR SUGAR MAS 52”.
