Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 30, 2020 (RSCNPF): Ten (10) individuals have successfully completed the first-ever training workshop for Compliance and Task Force Personnel in Nevis.
The newly recruited Task Force members were awarded their certificates of completion during a closing ceremony earlier this week. The ceremony was held at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall in Charlestown where the workshop also took place. Like their St. Kitts counterparts, they will either be posted at quarantine sites as security personnel or assist with ensuring compliance with the health protocols that were established last year.
Divisional Commander for District ‘C’ (Nevis), Superintendent James Sutton, delivered the feature address on behalf of the Commissioner of Police. Superintendent Sutton told the participants that the training had equipped them to take the appropriate actions to enforce the measures enacted for our safety and security.
“Over the period of your training, you were exposed to various topics to highlight our areas for support and mitigation. It is my hope that this training has given you the ability to better cope with the challenges of the new normal. I would like to implore you to be fair and firm in the execution of your new task as Compliance Officers but, most importantly, continue to support each other. Finally, I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for your dedication and participation in this training,” the Superintendent said.
David Grant participated in the workshop and provided an overview of his experience during the two-week exercise. He expressed how pleased he was with the level of training and the relationships he formed with both his colleagues and the presenters.
“To the participants, you are an awesome group-friendly, jovial, spiritual – and I won’t say anymore. The presenters now, they were amazing, knowledgeable, cordial, and most of them have now become our friends,” Mr. Grant said.
The training sessions were facilitated, in large part, by Police Officers, in collaboration with officials from the Ministry of Health.
