Recently elected President of the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club, Allister Thompson, on Wednesday indicated that his Association will be hosting a grand horse race meet this coming Sunday-16th June, recognized world wide as FATHERS’ Day.
He indicated that the race meet will be dubbed ‘The Fathers’ Day Race’ and will have at least four races on the card with a high possibility of a fifth race as well.
Some of the horses to be on show for the big day will be: WILD CANDY; OBAMA; REAL EXPECTATION; REAL MAGIC; ROSSMAN and HAWLEY’S WILD FIRE.
He however pointed out that his personal horse, BIG PEPE will not be competing for this event but is in training and will be ready for the Culturama races slated for the 4th of August and also for the signature event of the club, the Dan Bartlette Memorial Stakes, slotted in for September.
BIG PEPE was beaten in the last race meet by WILD CANDY but Thompson has indicated that he knows what mistakes were made last time around and openly pledged that Mr. BIG PEPE will dominate the next time he races.
As a matter of fact, the Dan Bartlette Memorial Stakes meet will be even bigger and better this year. This is simply because, the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club will be celebrating its 45th year of existence on that day.
According to Thompson, this Sunday’s meet will be utilized to encourage a family outing typesetting and he is inviting all of the mothers and the children to come along and enjoy the day with their significant male figures.
The cover charge remains the same: Adults $20.00 and children $10.00.
The gates open at 1 pm and the first race gets going at 3:00 p.m.
