The Empire Sports Club is this year celebrating 35 years of service to Hanley’s Road, the Gingerland community and the island on a whole. The club has organized a number of activities to mark this significant milestone.
One of the activities is scheduled for Saturday November 15, 2014 when the club will host a 35 and over dance at Riviere House, Government Road. The club is promising patrons a night filled with entertainment as the Kasanova, featuring Garlic will be at their best. Dance time is 10 pm to 2 am and the admission is a mere $20.00. Patrons will experience fantastic party music in an awesome atmosphere with a mature crowd.
Activities for the club’s anniversary commenced on Sunday November 2, 2014 when members worshiped at the Henrys Memorial Wesleyan holiness Church in Hanley’s Road. Four members of the club received awards at the service – Errol Somersall, the club’s first president, long standing members Clive Evelyn and Joel Simmonds and current President, Eric Evelyn.
The club’s main activity will be a 20/20 cricket festival to take place at the Elquemedo Willet Park on Saturday November 22, 2014 from 3 pm. During the festival, an empire 35 and over team will engage the Nevis masters team and in the other match, the regular Empire team will play the Nevis national cricket team.
The Empire Sports Club is soliciting the support of the general public for its 35th anniversary activities.
