The Empire Cricket club dominated the grand finals of the first division 40 overs per side tournament, hosted by the Nevis Cricket Association and sponsored by the Bank of Nevis.
They dominated the encounter versus the All-Stars team, at the VOJN grounds, on Sunday 21st August.
Empire won the toss and elected to bat first.
When the umpires called play, there were only seven players on the field of play for the All-stars team.
Fortunately, by the third over, the other players had arrived.
The Empire team posted a challenging 247 from their 40 allotted overs, with good knocks coming from, Javier Liburd, Skipper Adelvin Phillip, Jevon Manners and Andre Browne
The veteran Stuart Williams, was the main bowler for the Stars, bagging 3 wickets.
The All-stars team in response had an early setback and at one point were precariously placed at 77 for 5, with most of their top order batsmen, already back in the hut, including Ross Powell and Stuart Williams.
However, Malik Wallace, Joseph Williams and Akadianto Willet batted maturely and certainly gave the Empire team some anxious moments.
However, the youthful Jevon Manners got rid of Wallace and then proceeded to wrap up proceedings.
Thereby, landing Empire, the championship trophy
