Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School Graduation 2013

(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS)-The Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School under its theme ‘Breaking Barriers to Promote Positive Attitudes and Excellence’ held its annual graduation at the school on Thursday, July 11, 2013.

As the parents, guardians and teachers looked on in the crowded auditorium, 19 students walked down the aisle to commence their graduation exercise.

The School’s Chaplain Allinson Da Costa invoked God’s presence on the proceedings. This was followed by the rendition of the National anthem.

Chairperson of the ceremony, Mr. Denzil Stanley expressed his gratitude for the trust bestowed upon him to Chair such a significant occasion. He stated, ‘I want to say to the school and its staff that I am quite elated with the confidence you have showed in me at this time’. He also encouraged the graduates to keep striving for utmost heights bearing in mind that the sky is the limit.

Mrs. Marion Lescott, Principal at the school delivered the annual report. She told the gathering that the school had made great stride over the past year. She also expressed heartfelt thanks to the people who contributed significantly to the school. ‘There are some people’, she stated ‘that have played a part in everything conducted by the school be it Sports Day or PTA Meetings and I want to thank them publicly for the sacrifice they have made’. In conclusion she told the graduates to remember the school’s motto, ‘Forward Ever Backward Never’ and they must always aim for success.

Ms. Earline Pemberton, a past student of the school gave the keynote address. She told the students to imagine that she was a graduate of the institution just 10 years ago and now she was standing before them giving the feature address. She warned the children to be very selective when choosing friends, noting that the wrong friends can impede them from achieving their goals. In closing Ms. Pemberton urged the parents to keep supporting their children in their many endeavors.

The Valedictory speech was made by Zahra Jones. She claimed that she was proud of what she and her fellow graduates had achieved during their tenure at the school. She also commended past and present teachers for instilling good ethics and values in them. She said without their hard work they would not have been the students they are today.

Mr. Denrick Liburd, along with his wife Mrs. Shelly Liburd presented the gifts and certificates while the vote of thanks was given by Ms. Angela Dore.
