Marileidy Paulino continued her excellent form on the track when she won the 400 metres at the 2023 USATF LA Grand Prix at the UCLA Drake Stadium in California on Saturday.
Paulino, the Olympic and World Championship silver medallist, stopped the clock at 48.98 seconds to break her national record and set a new world-leading time.
Former world champion Salwa Eid Nasser, who is returning to competition after serving a two-year ban, was second in a time of 50.27 and the USA’s Lynna Irby Jackson was third in 50.38 seconds.
