Officers of the Frigate Bay Police Station responded to a report of a drowning incident at Cockleshell Beach at about 6:15 pm.
Initial investigation revealed that the deceased; 36 years Myriam Bissainthe a Windsor student of Gainsville, Georgia, USA, but, was living at St. Christopher Club, Frigate Bay, was at Cockleshell Beach about 5:35 pm on 31 August 2013, celebrating her 36th birth day with two (2) of her friends.
She was alone in the water close to the shore when sometime later a swimmer saw her floating and drifting, and rescued her.
She was brought ashore and a local doctor who was present tried to revive her but, she was none responsive, and was pronounced dead about 6:00 pm.
A post mortem will be conducted at a later date.
