Digicel Business Announced As Proud Communications Partner of Health City State of the Art Tertiary Care Hospital

Wednesday 13th August 2014, George Town, Cayman Islands: Health City Cayman Islands (HCCI) is the first Caribbean venture of the Narayana Health Group, a network of 26 hospitals across India overseen by the renowned cardiologist, Dr. Devi Shetty, in partnership with Ascension, the largest not-for-profit healthcare group in the United States. The hospital opened its doors in February 2014 with a state-of-the-art, tertiary care facility in Grand Cayman and is the region’s only centre of excellence specialising in cardiac surgery, cardiology, orthopaedics, pulmonary and paediatric endocrinology.

The Challenge
The telecommunications requirements of Health City Cayman Islands are particularly complex due to it being part of a large global network. With a number of very specific and unique requirements needing to be met, the pressure was on to find a communications provider who could deliver a future proof, scalable and reliable communications infrastructure.

Mr. Thompson, project director, explains; “As Health City Cayman Islands is part of a wider global group – the Narayana Health Group – and this is only phase one of a potentially wider development, we were looking for a provider who could deliver ICT services that would meet our global requirements as well as deliver services that would provide a flexible and scalable solution”.

The Solution
Digicel spent some time working with the team at Health City Cayman Islands in order to fully understand its business requirements. With no RFP, specifications or guidelines for the IP PBX solution, it was up to Digicel to design a solution that would provide all the services required and pre-empt requirements that had not been considered or requested such as the integration of its fire alarm and emergency elevator connections and third party services. After the initial consultation stage, the Digicel team was then able to propose a bespoke future proof solution for Health City Cayman Islands consisting of an IP PBX solution for 200 seats – along with a Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) service, landline direct dials, outbound call service connectivity and mobile services for 130+ staff.

Mr. Thompson recalls; “There were two key things that appealed to us about Digicel. The first was the bespoke ICT solutions that it was able to develop and deliver to meet our slightly more complex business requirements. The second was the idea that we would only ever have to deal with one provider for our fixed line voice and mobile solutions.”

During the consultation stage, Digicel really got to know the requirements of the customer. As a result, it was able to create a custom solution. Leveraging the Digicel/Cisco relationship, the team provided pricing and financing that meant the project could be treated as an operational expenditure project and was also able to tailor rate plans to provide preferential rates to India where the majority of Narayana Health Group facilities operate.

As a result of the solutions installed by Digicel Business, Dr. Chandy Abraham, Facility Director says; “We are able to focus 100% on our emergency patient response and patient care, knowing that we have the right communications services in place to take those emergency calls and the peace of mind that our doctors on call can be reached in any emergency across Digicel’s state of the art LTE network.”

With the help of Digicel Business, HCCI can concentrate on delivering state of the art health services locally and internationally safe in the knowledge that it has a world class communications provider looking after all its needs.
