The Development of St. Kitts and Nevis and more particularly the Nevis Branch, came in for high praise on Thursday 20th December.
The Nevis under 17 Cricket team was at the Charlestown pier, getting ready to leave for St. Maarten, for a tournament slated for this weekend, when no less a person than former Windies all-rounder and manager of the team, Carl Tuckett, lauded the renowned institution, for their habit of giving towards the development of the youths of Nevis.
Tuckett explained that the lads have been in training consistently for the last few years and did not get an opportunity to participate in the last two Leeward Islands tournaments, for varying reasons and he felt that they deserved an outing of some sort.
The opportunity came when the St. Maarten Cricket Association extended an invitation to a three way tournament this weekend, which will involve host St. Maarten; Anguilla and Nevis.
However, such trips take funds and at one point, it did not seem as if the youngsters would be able to make the trip and then Manager of the Nevis branch of the Development Bank, Miss Hyacinth Pemberton, stepped forward and made a sizeable contribution, which effectively made the trip possible.
Other assistance then came from the Nevis Island Administration and the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union, who all teamed up to ensure that the youth team could make the trip.
Tuckett expressed thanks to all of the contributors but noted that the Development Bank has made it a habit to help in the development of the youths of Nevis an stated that he was really grateful to the institution for its continued assistance
