Thursday 28th November was a very important day for the young Footballers in the Primary Schools’ Football tournament on Nevis.
It was the final day of the competition, hosted and coordinated jointly by the Ministries and Departments of Sports and Education.
A huge crowd showed up at the ET Willet Park, even for the first match, to determine the third place winner, played between defending champions, St. Thomas’ Primary and the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary.
Both teams started warily and an early super save by the EPPS goalie, promised much for the remainder of the game.
However, a super strike from way on the left flank by one of the St. Thomas’ strikers, just barley managed to squeeze into the far corner of the goal. A tough ask for the usually outstanding EPPS goalie.
After that, the EPPS team seemed to have lost its way and the St. Thomas’ team capitalized and hit two more strikes before the final whistle.
Final score: St. Thomas’ Primary 3 Elizabeth Pemberton Primary nil
The St. Thomas’ Primary school, is therefore the 2019 third place winner in the tournament.
