Dario Barthley Implores Fans to Show Up For Afghanistan versus West Indies Series

By: Curtis Morton

Marketing officer for the newly branded CRICKET WEST INDIES, Dario Barthley, on Wednesday 31st May spoke passionately to the local cricketing fans, imploring them to turn out in their numbers to witness the upcoming T-20 series between the West Indies team and Afghanistan.

The series of three matches will be played at Warner Park on Friday 2nd June; Saturday 3rd June and Monday 5th June.

All matches commence at 7.30 pm but according to Barthley, the gates will swing open at about 5.30 pm to accommodate the local cricket fans, who will have the unique opportunity to meet and interact  with the players from the Windies one day team. They will have photo opportunities with the players, who will also be available to sign autographs.

Barthley noted that this was all a part of the new branding name of Cricket West Indies which is an all-inclusive package, catering for all of the stakeholders of West Indies cricket. ‘This includes the board; the secretariat; the players; the fans; the media and everyone involved,’ he stated. He also indicated that fans will be able to interact with players via twitter and other social media outlets.

As a matter of fact, on that same day Cricket West Indies officially launched the new brand name at its headquarters in Antigua and it was streamed live, via the newly upgraded website.

Cricket fans attending the games will be able to access a multiplicity of paraphernalia which include training jerseys; polos; caps etc.

Meanwhile, the gate prices are indeed ‘a steal of a deal’:

Grounds: $15.00 EC. An additional 15.00 will get the individual a West Indies Cricket jersey

Stands: $25.00 EC. An additional $15.00 will get the individual a West Indies Cricket jersey.

Barthley was quick to point out that although there were no established ticket outlets in Nevis, the process of ticket sales at the booths will be a speedy one.

He urged the fans in St.Kitts and Nevis to come out in their numbers to give the West Indies team, ‘the home court advantage.’

He noted that based on what transpired with the practice match between the Afghan team and the President’s X1, fans should be out of the park by 10.30 pm.

The interview was conducted by Curtis Morton of NTV channel 8 in Nevis and Barthley was accompanied during the interview by Marketing professional, Marsha Chatterjee.

Arrangements are being made by at least two boats travelling from Nevis, to get the cricket fans safely to and from the games.
