According to Mr. Garfield Virgo, the Charlestown Secondary School will be hosting an annual major event, well in advance of the accustomed time period.
Today, Friday 30th November, the school will host its cross country events which will involve junior and senior boys and girls and will commence sometime around 9 am and conclude during the course of the afternoon.
When asked the reason for the change, he indicated that the sports term, which commences in January each year, is normally packed with activities for the students and this was just one way of getting one of the major events out of the way, in advance of the time.
He was further quizzed about the fitness level of the students at this time of year and in response he pointed to the fact that most of the athletes are involved with at least one of the local athletic clubs and they train on a regular basis.
Motorists and members of the general public are asked to be on the lookout for the student athletes, as they run on sections of the public road during the course of the day.
