It was a historic first, as the Charlestown Secondary School proceeded to host their annual cross country runs, well in advance of the normal athletic term.
The races were run on Friday 30th November and despite some intense rain at one point, the junior girls; junior boys; senior girls and senior boys, all completed their respective races.
The question centered around the issue of the fitness of the athletes in an out of season event, but based on the results, the students were in excellent shape
All of the races were keenly contested but the senior boys event, certainly took the cake!
In that race, brothers Timothy and Alexander Caines, literally raced each other to the death, forcing a brand new record, as they came in seconds apart.
They were closely challenged by three other top athletes at the school- Kamarley Newton, Akadianto Willet and Shamar Wallace.
