Cricket : Pride Looking to End with A Win as They Take on The Volcanoes

The Barbados Pride are looking to wrap up the West Indies Championship on a winning note despite not being able to defend their title this season. They are heading into the fifth and final round with a winning momentum, after defeating the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by two wickets.

Barbados captain Shane Dowrich said:

“Obviously playing some good cricket against Trinidad last round, just want to continue that in this game and see if we can do that again. Getting the title is out of our grasp right now, we just have to focus on what’s in front of us which is the next game and play it well. There is no pressure for us, we just want to keep the same winning momentum.”
Their opponents are the Windward Islands Volcanoes who are heading into the final round after victories over Jamaica Scorpions in Round 3 and the Leeward Islands Hurricanes in Round 4. Currently sitting second on the points table, the Volcanoes will be looking to gain maximum points and push table-toppers Guyana Harpy Eagles for first place.

Round 4 century-maker Kavem Hodge said the Windwards team is focused on the processes.

“We just have to continue with a positive mindset and in the direction, we have been going and not looking too far ahead. Barbados is a proud cricketing nation; they play hard cricket, and we know it’s going to be challenging but we have to keep focus and trust our processes and believing ourselves.”
In the other Round 5 matches, Guyana will play host to the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at the National Stadium and Trinidad and Tobago Red Force will host Jamaica Scorpions at the Brian Lara Academy. The first ball daily is 10 am (9 am Jamaica).
