Cricket : Kieran Powell Stars on Day Three

Nevisian Kieran Powell, was the ultimate star, on day three, of the Best v Best match, which is in effect, a trial match for the Windies red ball team, just prior to the start of the upcoming test series versus South Africa.

Powell batted superbly throughout the day and looked certain to score a century, when he mistimed a lofted drive off the bowling of Rahkeem Cornwall, to be easily caught in the offside, when on 95.

Prior to his dismissal, Powell batted with confidence and assurance and played a number of superlative shots in his innings, striking 11 fours and 1 six.

His innings has helped the Hamilton X1 to be well placed in their chase of the 311 runs target for victory and has certainly placed him on the radar of the Windies selectors.

Earlier in the day, the Blackwood X1, resumed their innings, well placed on 197 for 3, with Shai Hope on 104 and Skipper Blackwood on 23.

Amazingly, the team lost the remaining 7 wickets for just 27 runs.

The Hamilton X1 ended the day, nicely placed on 218 for 4, just requiring 93 runs on the final day, to secure what would effectively turn out to be, a come-from-behind victory, if it is achieved.
