Tobago allrounder Joshua James has been given his first call-up by reigning champions Trinidad and Tobago Red Force team for the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Super 50 tournament in Trinidad and Tobago from October 29 to November 23, 2024.
The giant Clarke Road all-rounder, who had already tasted regional cricket and is a graduate of the West Indies Academy, was selected in the 14-man squad.
The 23-year-old has an impressive batting average of 35 and an equally proud average of 27.3 in seven List A matches with West Indies Academy.
James, who is a Caribbean Premier League Champion with the Jamaica Tallawahs in 2022, featured with the new franchise Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the CPL this year.
Also making a return to the team is Queen’s Park captain Isaiah ‘Big Raj’ Rajah. The son of former national player Aneil Rajah, the 31-year-old played his last List A match in November 2019 against a West Indies Emerging Team that was led by now teammate Yannic Cariah with Joshua Da Silva as wicket-keeper.
The all-rounder is rewarded for his fruitful 2024 season as he accumulated 1122 runs this season in all competitions with an average of 59.1 with three hundred.
‘Big Raj’ added 15 wickets to go with his batting exploits.
The team will be led by West Indies Test wicket-keeper Joshua Da Silva, who replaced last year’s winning skipper, Darren Bravo. DaSilva will also have another Queen’s Park teammate, Khary Pierre, who helped St Lucia Kings to the CPL title in Providence, Guyana, two weeks ago.
The bowling will be led by out-of-favour West Indies fast bowler Anderson Phillip, who is expected to shoulder the responsibility with the unavailability of Jayden Seales, who will be in West Indies colours during the limited overs series against England and Shannon Gabriel, who announced his retirement from international cricket this year.
The reigning champions will begin their campaign against the Combine Colleges and Campuses on October 29th in St Augustine.
