Former Master’s cricketer, Clinton SWANNY Swanston, is adamant that the late Vance Winkworth Amory was the finest opening batsman in the region, during his time at the regional level.
After the funeral service on Saturday, Swanston spoke fondly of his days of playing cricket with Amory, from age 16 at the CSS grounds and then to Grove Park, where they rolled the pitch before using it.
He was instrumental in giving Amory practice in preparation for his Leeward Islands matches.
His most treasured moments, however, were the days when Amory spent some time in St. Croix, where he lived with him and Amory was drafted into the team, for which he played, known as CHANCES ARE.
The twosome played huge roles in the success of the team and their bond became even closer.
