The Village Premier League (VPL) excitement continued at the Hardtimes playing field on Sunday, June 2nd. In the first match, the Bushwhackers faced off against the HFR Sports team in an exciting and entertaining encounter.
The Bushwhackers won the toss and batted first, much to the delight of the sizable crowd, who were thoroughly entertained throughout the game. Despite some comical moments, such as Michael “WISE” Herbert diving over the rope while attempting to catch a ball and William tumbling over in his effort to stop a ball at mid-wicket, the HFR team bowled well and restricted the Bushwhackers to a score of 64.
Despite some good shots from John, it eventually came down to William, who was batting in the middle order and humorously referred to himself as Lawrence Rowe. However, his attempt at a sharp single ended in a tumble and an easy run-out, much to the amusement of the spectators. After this incident, there was a delay in the game as everyone laughed.
In the end, the HFR team managed to score only 44 runs, with Captain Herbert making a late effort with the bat that was too little, too late. The Bushwhackers emerged victorious, winning by 20 runs.
