CPS wins Talented Youth Pageant 2014 and King Sukie repeats as Junior Calypso King

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Vanessa Hull and Jadan Liburd of the Charlestown Primary School were crowned Mr. and Miss Talented Youth 2014 on Sunday, July 27 at the Nevis Cultural Complex. The students, who were sponsored by the Bank of Nevis Limited, competed against 14 other participants from seven other schools as part of the Culturama 40, Talented Youth Pageant.

The battle between the contestants was competitive from the start. All the participants exuded self confidence and determination as they competed against each other in three judged segments.

In the end, the Charlestown Primary School contestants Vanessa Hull and Jadan Liburd captured the Best Creative Expression segment; while the Violet Jeffers Nicholls Primary School students, Ajuma Liburd and Andrew Cozier captured the Best Talent segment. Maude Crosse Preparatory School students, Jeniah Tyson and Ammani Williams walked away with the Best Formal Wear.

The overall results of the Talented Youth Pageant 2014 were: Jeniah Tyson and Ammani Williams of the Maude Crosse Preparatory School, who were sponsored by the RBTT Bank (SKN) Ltd placed 3rd runner up. They received a total of 668.5 points.

Second runner up with a total score of 670.5 points went to the Nevis Academy, Oshana Edwards and Ayinde George. They were sponsored by National Caribbean Insurance Co. Ltd.

Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School students, Jennessa Caines and Kishawn Hobson placed 1st runner up with a total of 672.75 points. They were sponsored by Builders Paradise (St. Kitts) Ltd. and Lefco Equipment Rental Construction Company Ltd.

The 2014 Mr. and Miss Talent Youth Pageant winners went to the Charlestown Primary School. They received a total of 692 points. The winners were crowned by this year’s festival patron, Mr. Tyrone O’Flaherty.

The Junior Calypso Show 2014 was also staged on Sunday, July 27, 2014. This show was jointly sponsored by Brown Hill Communications and Peachicks Store. Eight kaisonians participated.

The results were:
Second runner up went to Princess Kayla with her song ‘Cultural Invitations’. She received a total of 233 points.

Invincible placed 1st runner up with a song entitled ‘Youngsters Unite’.

King Sukie emerged the winner. He was crowned back to back Junior Kaiso King. His song ‘Prayer for the Leaders,’ along with his outstanding stage performance was enough for him to walk away with the crown for a second time.
