Closing Ceremony for Malcolm Guishard League Held

The official closing ceremony for the Malcolm Guishard Basketball league, which was concluded late last year, was officially held on the evening of Saturday 19th January at the Church Ground hard court.
The proceedings were ably chaired by President of the Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (NABA), Mrs. Wanda France who after the invocation, delivered opening remarks, during which she paid tribute to the man in whose honour the league is named, the late Hon. Malcolm Guishard, former area representative. She then recognized the presence of the daughter of the late parliamentarian, Ms. Shinelle Guishard.
She also paid tribute to the current area representative, Premier Mark Brantley, who has been the longstanding main sponsor of the league.
Also addressing the gathering was the Hon. Eric Evelyn, Minister of Sports, who also paid tribute to the legacy of the late parliamentarian and Premier Brantley and apologized for his absence as he had another engagement.
He saluted the sterling efforts of Mrs. Franc and her team in keeping the game of Basketball alive, on the island and congratulated the teams for participating but had warm words of congratulations for the winning team, Dynasty Ballers, which incidentally hails from his constituency in Gingerland.
He then assisted in the presentation of medals, trophies and cheques to the top players and teams.

Most points-Kelvin Bramble-134 points at an average of 333.5
Most rebounds-Kelvin Bramble-89 rebounds at an average of 22.25
Most assists- Shemar Caines-19 at an average of 4.75
Most block shots-Royden Browne-11 at an average of 2.75
Most steals- Jenerson France-20 at an average of 5
MVP of the tournament-Trevorn Simmonds: 45 points; 26 rebounds; 10 assists; 13 steals; 6 block shots; 10 of 23 free throws made and 12 turnovers
