Ag Director of Sports on Nevis, Jamir Claxton, is currently attending a sports development conference in Trinidad. The conference which runs from June 17th to 19th is being hosted and coordinated by CSDA (Caribbean Sports Development Agency) a non-profit sports development body based in Trinidad.
Some 12 Directors of Sports from around the region, as well as CARICOM and OCASPE representatives are involved in the annual Regional Sport for Development Meeting.
Monday’s session involved the sharing of updates on major local, regional and international sports for development initiatives impacting the region. These included reports and updates from: CSDA, OCASPE, CARICOM and CABOS.
Tuesday’s session will include a visit to the CSDA headquarters to meet with staff and project managers in order to discuss possible future projects for the various islands involved.
CSDA formally known as TTASPE (Trinidad &Tobago Alliance for Sports & physically Education) has done some work in Nevis recently with training coaches to work with Children with disabilities.
Countries represented: Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, St.Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, St.Vincent, Dominica, St.Lucia, Grenada, Suriname, and Belize.
