Charlestown-Nevis-On Thursday 15th November, the City Drug Store in Nevis made yet another significant donation to the Seniors’ Division, within the Ministry of Social Development.
Manager at the City Drug Store, Mr. Laughton Herbert, made the presentation in company with one of the supervisors at the institution, Ms. Latoya Webbe.
He noted that his company knew the importance of assisting the seniors, who would have already made significant contributions to the welfare of the island and this was a follow up to the customary fruit baskets and certificates which are normally presented in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, to seniors making significant birthdays.
In this instance, the donation to the Seniors’ Division was in the form of 48 diabetic socks, which are specifically designed to make the seniors more comfortable and help to increase circulation and reduce swelling in the legs.
Each pair of socks cost just over $37.00 EC.
Deputy Director of the Social Services Department, Miss Joyce Moven, gratefully accepted the timely gift on behalf of the seniors and noted that the donation will greatly alleviate some of the problems being faced by the seniors.
She wished the management and staff all the best in their future endeavours and advised other diabetics to stop in at the City Drug Store in order to effectively deal with some of their ailments.
