It was indeed a game worthy of a grand finals.
Scores of individuals showed up at the ET Willet Park, on the evening of Saturday 2nd December, to witness the finals of the 2023 Primary Schools’ Football tournament.
Defending champions, Charlestown Primary faced off with former champions, St. Thomas’ Primary and what a match-up it was!
Both teams played aggressive and skillful Football and both goalkeepers were well and truly tested.
At the end of regulation time, the scores were 2 goals –all.
The referee then ordered the best of five penalties.
At the end of the penalty kicks, the two teams still could not be separated, with a scoreline of 5-all!
The referee then ordered the ‘sudden death’ route.
The CPS player promptly hit the back of the net and the St. Thomas’ player managed to hit the upright.
There were wild scenes at the Et Willet Park, as the orange coloured fans took over the entire Park in celebrations.
