A brief ceremony was held at the end of the grand finals of the Sports Department/Development Bank tape ball Cricket competition, on Thursday 7th November.
The proceedings were ably chaired by Deputy Director of Sports, Brian Dowe, who offered the invocation and delivered opening remarks.
Also speaking briefly, was local Branch Manager for the Development Bank, Miss Hyacinth Pemberton, who pledged the Bank’s continued support towards the development of the youths of Nevis.
Minister of Sports, Hon. Eric Evelyn, also praised the financial institution for its continued commitment to sports on the island and hailed the Rawlins team for snatching the championship trophy.
The top awards-monetary and otherwise, in terms of trophies etc, were presented as follows:
Most runs in one inning – Carlon Smithen -131 runs
MVP of the finals – Jacel Allen of Rawlins
4th placed team -TDC Calypso
3rd place – All stars
2nd place – GT United
1st place – Champion Team – Rawlins
Presentations were also made to the two top umpires in Earl David and Josephine France; the main scorer-Charlene Martin; grounds man-JABAL Walwyn, the cleaner and the two commentators-WISE Herbert and Micah Williams.
