CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS 4 April 2014 — ChantiMedia with the support of Caribbean Film Academy (New York) and Caribbean Film Corner (London) is proud to present The Easter Film Screenings 2014, opening on Friday 19th April at Gateways Beach Bar & Grill, Cades Bay, Nevis.
The screenings, which will run from 19th – 21st April, will showcase the best in Caribbean cinema with films of Caribbean origin, theme or production. From old classics to new releases to dramas, to animation and documentaries, the range of narratives on show will have something for everyone.
Films scheduled hail from across the Caribbean with work from Nevis, St Vincent, Trinidad, The Bahamas,Jamaica, Guyana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Bonaire, Aruba and Barbados all featured.
Among the films featured at the festival is After Mas, an award winning love story between two young people from very different backgrounds in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
A richly textured film about identity, desire and conformity, After Mas had its world premiere at the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival in September 2013 where it picked up the Best Local Short award. Karen Martinez, Director of After Mas said, “I love the idea of The Easter Film Screenings and the venue – outdoors and facing the ocean. How perfect! I think After Mas is really well suited for outdoor screenings. It’s
so atmospheric.”
Chantal Miller, CEO of ChantiMedia said, “ChantiMedia is so excited to be staging this film festival on Nevis. We’re hopeful the screenings will be inspirational to all who view them and that the films will do much to promote the art of film making in the Caribbean.”
All screenings at the film fest are absolutely FREE to attend and showings start from 7:00p.m. each evening on the deck at Gateways Beach Bar.

The Caribbean Film Corner Film Festival – A Film Festival which is dedicated to the to showcasing up and coming Caribbean film makers whilst paying tribute to the Caribbean people who have made their mark on the Stage and Screen around the world
The festival aims to highlight excellence in Caribbean filmmaking through the exhibition of films made in the region including Latin American, the French, English and Dutch speaking countries in the Caribbean Basin, by Caribbean people of the diaspora, and by international filmmakers that reflect Caribbean culture and way of life both in the Caribbean and the diaspora.
Speaking Of – The UK’s alternative Caribbean creative voice. Speaking Of showcases and celebrates progressive artisans in the fields of Spoken Word and literary excellence.
Chantal recently founded ChantiMedia a multi media platform dedicated to the sharing and promotion of contemporary and progressive Caribbean art. Under the ChantiMedia umbrella she has produced her first short film ‘ What The Times Cover Girl Did Next ‘ as well two ongoing web –series ‘ I AM..’ and Talk That Talk.
Her passion for changing the perception of what it means to be a creative of Caribbean descent has led her to Creative I.D. a project which explores the Creative DNA of the chosen destination whilst simultaneously exploring and showcasing the fledgling new school of artistes who are reshaping the perceptions, stretching the boundaries and pretty much smashing the ‘mould’ to pieces in terms of what it truly means RIGHT NOW to be a Caribbean Creative.
