BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 19TH 2014 (CUOPM) – Canada’s Governor General, the Presidents of France and Turkey and the Amir of Kuwait have joined the long list of world leaders in congratulating St. Kitts and Nevis on the 31st Anniversary of Independence.
“On the occasion of the National Day of St. Kitts and Nevis, I would like to extend to Your Excellency and to all the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis my sincere congratulations on behalf of the Turkish people and on my own.
I fully believe that with mutual effort we will further develop and strengthen our cooperation in all areas at the bilateral level as well as at the regional and multilateral platforms such as CARICOM and Association of Caribbean States,” the Turkish President, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a message to St. Kitts and Nevis’ Governor General His Excellency Sir Edmund Lawrence.
Governor General of Canada, His Excellency David Johnston said Canada and Saint Kitts and Nevis enjoy long-standing and friendly relation based on shared Commonwealth heritage and strong people-to-people ties.
“Canada appreciates working with your country on matters of mutual interest and concern, and we look forward to another year of fruitful collaboration,” Mr. Johnston said.
Kuwait’s Amir, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah expressed congratulations to Governor General Lawrence on his country’s National Day.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also sent messages to the General Governor of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
In extending his warmest congratulations, the President of France, His Excellency Francois Hollande wished happiness and prosperity.
“In the spring of this year, Martinique and Guadeloupe have joined the Association of Caribbean States as Associate Members. The adhesion of these French overseas departments in the Caribbean Community and the organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States confirmed the interest of France to an increasingly active regional cooperation,” said President Hollande.
