(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- With tears in her eyes Mrs. Hope Merchant, operator of ‘Hope at The Patio’ told this media house that she was distraught when she arrived at her business place on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 and discovered that it was broken into and vandalized.

Hope said she arrived at her establishment at about 7:50 a.m. to prepare for a party that she was hosting during the evening for over 200 guests. When she arrived Hope stated that she discovered her business place was ‘in a total mess’.

It was reported that the intruders stood on two blocks on the outside of the building to gain entry inside through a back window. While inside the bandits smashed all the bottles from the empty beer cases on the floor and refilled the cases with beers from the cooler. According to her, they also emptied her well stocked bar that was filled with expensive ‘top shelf’ drinks.

Still with a teary eye, she told this media house what hurts the most is that all what she prepared for the after party for her cousin’s funeral, the late Brian Morton were totally destroyed.

Hope said that pounds of chicken that she seasoned and prepared for the party were thrown on the floor, seasoned fish thrown on the floor, 80 lbs of rice thrown onto the floor and what the intruders could not have physically carried with them, they threw on the floor.

Hope stated that it is sad enough that we have to bury Brian but now I also have to purchase everything again and start a fresh for the party which was to commence after the burial service. ‘How can people be so wicked?’ she asked.

Over the years as it draws nigh to Christmas and bandits become more desperate for money business places are usually targeted and this year seems no different.

Just last week Friday, November 22, 2013 during the wee hours one of the local snackettes in Charlestown, Nevis, was on the receiving end of burglary.

V’s Snackette which is situated on the island Main Road and owned by Verlyn David was broken into and a number of items including money were taken.

Investigation into these matters continues.
