Bath United goes down 1 nil to St.Peter’s

Saturday 10th October was a big day for the Bath United Football team. That was the day when they made their debut appearance in the premier league of the SKNFA.
In front of a huge crowd which comprised of a fair support of Nevisian football fans, who journeyed over by boat, The Bath men went onto the field of play to loud cheers.

However, the team was soon shell shocked as in only the third minute of the game, striker Shaquille Barzey of the St.Peter’s team, pounced on a loose ball resulting from a bungle and slammed it home.

However, the Bath men recovered well and led an all out attack on the St.Peter’s goal but missed a few crucial chances on the way.
At the final whistle, the score line remained the same: Elco limited St.Peter’s 1 Bath United 0.

Speaking to NTV 8 Sports on Monday, Coach of the Bath United team, Alex Claxton indicated that the goal scored in the third minute, was obviously as a result of early nerves shown by his players.
“They knew that they were on the big stage, in front of a huge crowd and they had some early jitters”, he explained.

He however, commended his team for pressuring the St.Peter’s team for the remainder of the encounter and thought that they were just a bit unlucky not to have converted.

He thanked the many fans who showed up to show their support and promised an even better performance when his team plays its second match, this coming Sunday 18th October at the Warner park stadium at 4.30 pm versus the SPD team.
