The Nevis Amateur Basketball league 2022, officially got on the way on Sunday 13th November at the Grell Hull Stevens Netball Complex.
A brief opening ceremony included prayer by Ms. Wanda Parry-France and addresses by the Hon. Spencer Brand, who is the official sponsor of the league and Sports Minister, Hon. Eric Evelyn.
Hon. Spencer Brand spoke to the rehabilitation of the Netball Complex and its facilities, now resulting in the hosting of the Basketball tournament at the venue.
He asked the younger basketballers especially, to aim big, as there are many scholarships on offer for persons who excel at the sport
Minister Evelyn for his part applauded the Nevis Amateur Basketball Association for being persistent and consistent.
He was happy to note that after quite a long period of time, Basketball was back at the Complex.
He pledged the continued support of his Ministry in ensuring that Basketball continues to be played across the island.
He later declared the tournament officially open.
The tournament is featuring seven teams and matches commenced immediately after the opening ceremony.
The game for the evening featured an exciting game between Dynamics Sports club Dynasty ballers and the Youth and Sports Eagles. The game went right down to the wire, with Dynasty Ballers winning by one point!
